Andre Miller and the Denver Nuggets have been at odds for weeks and that likely will lead to a trade at the NBA trading deadline and teams like the Washington Wizards, Sacramento Kings, Minnesota Timberwolves and Atlanta Hawks could get in on the action for the point guard if the two sides cannot come to a resolution.
The Nuggets are already shorthanded after losing Nate Robinson to surgery and now Miller could get traded and that puts the team in a tough situation. According to the Denver Post, the team could try and reach out to Miller to avoid having to make a trade to replace Robinson, but the report says that the team and head coach Brian Shaw will not be the ones doing it. The report says that the Nuggets will not be "reaching out" to Miller and that things are in his hands and that could lead to a deal, as Miller was very upset with the way he was treated and the team did not like how he lashed out publically at Shaw.
The Nuggets like Ty Lawson as their starting point guard and Miller now is wasting away on the bench and he could fit as a veteran backup for a number of teams, including the Kings and Timberwolves. All this talk stems from when Miller was a healthy scratch for a game earlier in the year for the first time in his career and he lashed out at Shaw from the bench, which led to the team imposing a suspension and now it could be what leads the Nuggets to trade him.
The Kings have been looking into getting a veteran point guard and the Wizards could be motivated to make a move after getting over .500 for the first time in four years with their win against the Portland Trail Blazers. Isaiah Thomas has played well for the Kings and while he is averaging near 20 points per game this season, the team would love to have a veteran backup on the roster and that could help after making moved for Derrick Williams and Rudy Gay. Many predict that Miller could be traded before the All-Star break, but the Nuggets could wait until just before the February 20 deadline as well.
Ricky Rubio has not been playing as well as expected and the Timberwolves could get in on the deal, while the Atlanta Hawks and Wizards were pointed out as options by ESPN.com and ESPN Insider. Robinson was a big hit for the team and he is now out for the season after tearing his ACL and it came as he was averaging 10.4 points and 2.5 assists in 44 games and he will be a big loss after being the top free agent signing for the team during the summer.
Robinson had successful surgery and he should be ready for next season, but now the focus is on Miller. The Nuggets come into this week at .500 at 23-23 and they play the Knicks after playing the Bucks on Wednesday and the game at MSG will be an interesting point for the team, as they near the trading deadline and now Shaw and the front office will have to weigh their options with Miller.
