USA and Slovenia are playing live on the Sochi Winter Olympics men's hockey schedule and the United States is looking to get back to the gold medal game and the preliminary round match starts at 7:30 am ET and streaming live from the NBC Sports Network live extra website.
The team will have Jonathan Quick in goal to start the games on Thursday and this comes after Ryan Miller was the primary starter in Vancouver and he will be the backup ahead of third goalie Jimmy Howard. The Canadian team and the US team are considered the favorites and their gold medal game from 2010 is looked at as the best final in Winter Olympics history and that game was won by Canada on Vancouver after a game winning goal from Sidney Crosby.
Team Canada has named Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price as the starter for game one and hero from 2010 Roberto Luongo will be in net for game two and these teams are stacked heading into the preliminary round. The 12 nation teams were split into groups of four and all the countries and the top four have a bye.
