New York Yankees and StubHub May Part Ways

I was just checking tickets for the next New York Yankees homestand. I looked them up through the team's website and saw upper-level seats in section 418 going for $37.80. On StubHub, these same tickets can cost you just $21. A $16 difference at your disposal.

For these exact reasons, the New York Yankees are considering parting ways with StubHub. It will be a bummer for fans who want to enjoy their overpriced, currently in second place, ballclub.

Yankee executives claim that it is unfair for season ticket holders. They pay a hefty chunk of change to then see similar tickets sold for cheaper on the online website.

StubHub receives 25 percent of the sale and plus they get $5 off of fees. They share a percentage of these fees with MLB.

Their spokesperson, Glenn Lehrman, said he believes their StubHub prices are fan-friendly, which is definitely true since many people around baseball have ridiculed The Yanks for having a "white collar" crowd.

Ironically enough, the Yankees play in a poor area of the Bronx. Granted that the new stadium has attracted new businesses, only a few blocks separate the stadium from poverty stricken neighborhoods.

The Yankees might not take any of this into consideration because they are a business and people will still show up regardless to see this baseball's most storied franchise.

The question has to be asked though, who are they catering their team to if fans near by cannot afford an entrance?

Their five-year contract with StubHub will expire at the end of the season. Major League Baseball has been negotiating with other ticket agencies, Ticketmaster included.
