Olympics Hockey Results Sochi: Canada Wins Score 1-0 Over United States For Olympics Gold Medal Finals Game Against Sweden

The US and Canada played the semifinals on Friday and the Canadian team won the game 1-0 and now will play in the gold medal game against Sweden and that game will be on Sunday for the Olympics finals and the United States played tough and now they are playing for the bronze and Team Canada goes for a second straight gold medal.

The men set a mark by getting shutout for the first time since 1976 and Jamie Benn was the only player to score and Phil Kessel had some chances and so did other players, but Carey Price was excellent in net. There were 68 shots in the game total and there was only one goal on Jonathan Quick and now the Us must win on Saturday just to secure a medal in hockey against Finland. The team played very well but Canada was simply better on defense and after getting that goal in the first period, neither team could muster up another one.

Canada now gets an extra day of rest before the game on Sunday against Sweden and they will matchup against another great goalie in Henrik Lundqvist and both these teams have won gold medals and the last one was for Canada in 2010 and the Swedes won it in 2006 in Turin and now those two teams will go at it against each other. Canada won without John Tavares, who was injured and is out for the season now after tearing his MCL and now the team has the chance for a second straight gold.

The last gold medal game was one of the best games in hockey history and that gave the team the chance to win on their home ice in Vancouver and that went to overtime and was won by Sidney Crosby. The Canadian women won against the USA in the gold medal game in overtime and both American teams were looking for revenge and came up short.

While the game was just 1-0, it was a very active game and Quick made some amazing saves, while Carey Price proved to be great in his first Olympics and now he has the chance for gold. Ryan Callahan was very good for the Us and while the team tried to play fast, team Canada did not let them sustain any offense and they attacked hard and the Canadian team was the toughest matchup for the US.
