Winter Olympics Hockey TV Schedule: Gold Medal Game Finals Canada Against Sweden Starts Sunday On NBC

The Winter Olympics hockey TV schedule picks up on Sunday for the gold medal game finals between Canada and Sweden and it comes after the Canadians won over the United States and now the final matchup will be on Sunday on NBC starting up at 7 am and has the defending gold medal team playing the last one, as Henrik Lundqvist and his nation won the top price back in 2006.

The United States were shutout for the first time in the Olympics in over 30 years and they lost after Jamie Benn scored the only goal in the game on Friday. Jonathan Quick had another solid game, but he couldn't stop the first period goal from Benn and the Americans couldn't answer it for the rest of the game. Team Canada shut down the high powered offense of the United States and not even the Olympics leader in Phil Kessel could get things done and now Canada faces off against Sweden for the gold medal.

The United States plays against Finland for the bronze medal after they lost against Sweden and they will be favored in that game and after the 1-0 loss on Friday, they will be looking to rebound and that is always a tough prospect. Neither Team Canada or the US lost in the preliminary round and the teams strolled through the quarters as well, with the Canadians holding on against Latvia, while the US won against the Czech Republic and the one goal from Benn came after a great pass from Jay Bouwmeester and Benn was able to redirect it in and Quick was not quick enough to snag it.

Quick was able to stop 36 shots, but Carey Price was just a little bit better and Zach Parise couldn't come up with the heroics he did last time around when he scored with under 30 seconds left in the gold medal game back in 2010. The team lost after Sidney Crosby scored in overtime and this time around the team couldn't bring up any offense and Canada slowed the team down and now they head into the game against Sweden.

The gold medal game from 2010 is considered to be the best of all-time and now Sweden and Canada play on Sunday, while the United States plays against Finland on Saturday for the Bronze.
