UFC Fuel TV 4 Fight Card: Joey Beltran Returns to UFC as Light Heavyweight

During his first run in the UFC, Joey Beltran earned a reputation for being very hard to put away in the Octagon.

Apparently, that reputation holds just as true for his career.

The ultra-durable Beltran has been re-signed by the UFC and will face James Te Huna at the UFC on Fuel TV 4 fight card next month in San Jose, California. Beltran was called on to replace Te Huna's original opponent, Brandon Vera, and will fight at light heavyweight for the second time in his career.

The 30-year-old "Mexicutioner" was cut from the UFC after his loss to Lavar "Big" Johnson in January at the UFC on Fox 2 fight card in Chicago. It was Beltran's second consecutive loss in the UFC, his fourth in five fights, and the first knockout loss in his career. However, Beltran cut down to fight at 205 pounds, and made his debut in his new weight class at the end of April, earning a unanimous decision against Anton Talamantes in Oklahoma.

With Vera being called on to face Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in the main event at the UFC on Fox 4 fight card in August, Beltran was recalled to the UFC as a substitute for "The Truth." Te Huna has won three of his four fights in the UFC, most recently scoring a two-minute TKO of Aaron Rosa in March in his native Australia.

Te Huna is a tough draw for Beltran in his return, but the Mexicutioner's granite chin made him a tough out at heavyweight, and he should be even tougher to beat at 205 pounds. The matchup is a strong addition to the UFC on Fuel TV 4 fight card.
