Tiger Woods is back in action for the second round at the Honda Classic and he tees off live at 12:35 pm ET on Friday and is chasing Rory McIlroy on the leaderboard for the PGA Tour tournament from Palm Beach Gardens and comes as he has had a rough start to the year and now he gets the chance to rebound as the Northern Irish star has taken a nice lead into the third round.
McIlroy finished the first day of the tournament seven under and he had a one stroke lead heading into Friday and now he is already in the clubhouse and he has a lead over Lee Westwood at 11 under and he was four under for the day on the second round. Westwood also got off to a great start and now Woods must rebound to get back into contention heading into the weekend. Woods had a very nice year last season while winning five times on tour and while he got back his number one ranking from McIlroy, he didn't win any majors and now he needs to get back on track.
Woods started the season with a rough performance at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines where he won last year, but he finished in 80th and missed the secondary cut and then he went to Dubai and that was not much better. Woods finished in 41st and now that has tied his worst start to the season and he would like to get back on track now at the Honda Classic, as he is getting prepared for the Masters.
Last season Woods looked like he would be in contention for the Masters, then the most amazing thing happened with his shot that went from the flag into the water and after his drop controversy, Woods missed out on the major and now he is looking to get into contention this year again. Woods was one over on the day on Thursday and he comes in on Friday looking to improve after having a double bogey along with three birdies and two bogeys.
