Dustin Brown grabbed the Stanley Cup from NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman in excitement, thrusting it skyward.
In an unbelievable postseason run, Kings scored three quick goals, in which Trevor Lewis, and Jeff Carter, and Quick all played their role in winning the 36-pound trophy and which eventually caused the Kings’ victory over the New Jersey Devils 6-1 Monday night.
The Los Angeles Kings' captain had been dreaming of this moment his whole life to remove the disgrace on the franchise that they had never won an NHL title in over four decades.
Brown later tweeted a picture of the Stanley Cup early Tuesday morning with the title "After 45yrs Stanley is finally home!!!"
The Kings threw a wild party up into midnight at a restaurant overlooking the Staples Center ice, where Los Angeles opened up a brand new page in its history, winning the franchise's first NHL title.
Kings’ first victory also brought about great joy to its long-suffering fans.
Lifelong Kings fan Andrew Gonzales, 21, was in tears and screaming on Figueroa Street as he celebrated Kings long-desired victory with friends outside Staples on a night when he was overcome by the joy.
"It's been 14 years I've been a fan, I started when I was 6, I've been to over 200 games," said Gonzales. "It's the happiest day of my life. I could die. Yeeaaah!"
In celebration, they are going to launch a parade beginning at noon near 5th and Figueroa streets, and end between L.A. Live and Staples Center, the team said.
