Euro 2012 Live Stream: Netherlands vs. Germany

Denmark and Portugal are set to take the pitch Wednesday for their second game in Group B at Euro 2012. Germany is riding high after a win over Portugal in their opener on Saturday, while the Dutch are looking to bounce back after an opening loss to Denmark. Sports World Report will be following all of the action live from Metalist Stadium in Kharkiv, Ukraine, so keep checking in for updates on the match and leave your thoughts on the action in the comments section.  

1' - Action is underway. Maarten Stekelenburg in goal for the Dutch, Manuel Neuer in for Germany.

7' - GREAT chance early for the Netherlands, with the ball sent ahead for Robin Van Persie, but the Arsenal star's sliding shot is stopped by Neuer.

9' - Ibrahim Afellay had a tricky shot from the left side, but again stopped by Neuer. Netherlands attacking early and often.

13' - Mesut Ozil tries to draw a penalty in the box on Joris Mathijsen, but the referee isn't moved.

14' - Corner to the Netherlands, headed wide, but a throw-in for the Dutch.

16' - Van Persie tries to go it alone after receiving nicely, but the ball is played out for a corner, which sails over everyone without incident.

18' - Good chance for Germany, but the Netherlands defends successfully and sends it the other way. Mats Hummels slides in to break up a centering pass from Affelay. Another poorly struck corner flies over everyone and rolls out.

20' - Holger Badstuber collides with Arjen Robben when going up for a header, and draws blood. Robben being tended to on the sidelines.

21' - Robben back on.

23' - Heitinga whistled for a foul. Netherlands slowed down a bit.

24' - GOAL, GERMANY! Mario Gomez benefits from a great pass from Bastian Schweinsteiger, winds up all alone with Stekelnburg, and sends it past him into the low left corner of the net.

26' - Hard turning shot from Robben from outside the penalty area, but well scouted and pulled in by Neuer.

30' - Robben has a shot blocked from the left side, with the ball deflected up harmlessly before it lands in the waiting arms of Neuer.

32' - Lukas Podolski and Gomez looked to hook up for a second goal, but can't quite get it together and the ball rolls harmlessly through the box.

37' - Free kick for Germany, Ozil taking it from the right side. Holger Badstuber gets his head on it, but Stekelenburg is in position for the stop to keep the lead at 1-0.

38' - GOAL, GERMANY! Gomez does it again, taking advantage of poor defense from the Dutch and lifting it over Stekelenburg, who looked to go down a bit too early on the play.

40' - Bit more possession for the Netherlands now, but loose defense early on has put the team in a tough hole to climb out of.

42' - Helpful information from the folks at ESPN, the Netherlands have never come back from a 2-0 deficit to win.

45' - Ozil goes down after contact with Jetro Willems. Free kick to Germany, cleared but not away.

45' + 1 - One last chance for the Germans, but Stekelenburg punches it over the top.

HALFTIME, NETHERLAND 0-2 GERMANY: The 2010 World Cup runners-up have a huge hole to climb out of, and their defense will need to tighten up considerably for a comeback to be possible.

46' - Action back underway in Kharkiv, Rafael Van der Vaart on for the Dutch along with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. Afellay and Mark Van Bommel are done for the day.

51' - Toni Kroos warming up for Germany.

52' - Poor defense continues for the Dutch, as Mats Hummels comes right down Broadway and gets not one, but two shots on goal. Stekelenburg equal to the task both times, but the ease of access for Hummels is disconcerting after the Netherlands' poor defensive performance in the first half.

56' - Another dangerous possession for Germany, but negated by an offsides call.

57' - Corner to the Netherlands after Robben's shot was deflected out. Joris Mathaisen heads it over the goal.

58' - Big save by Neuer on a hard shot by Van Persie.

62' - Tricky shot from Wesley Sneijder evaded Neuer but was just wide of the goal.

64' - Corner to Germany, as Willems breaks up a chance for Thomas Muller. Muller gets the worst of it, going down on the play, but he gets up and stays in. Germany's corner goes wide without incident.

66' - Best chance of the half for the Netherlands, with no one between Robben and Neuer, but Robben can't quite get control of the pass.

69' - Another shot wide to the right by Robben.

70' - Gomez looks for a hat trick with a shot from a narrow angle, but it rolls far wide of the goal.

71' - Best chance of the half, possibly of the day for the Dutch, a hard shot for Sneijder, but Jerome Boateng breaks it up. Nothing major on the corner opportunity.

72' - Gomez done for the day, as he sits down in favor of Miroslav Klose.

73' - GOAL, NETHERLANDS! Van Persie blasts a right-footed shot past Neuer and into the lower right corner of the net.

75' - Netherlands attacking with renewed vigor.

76' - Solid defending by Nigel de Jong to break up a chance for Ozil.

78' - Netherlands continuing to attack. Van Persie went down in the box, but no foul called.

80' - Yellow card to De Jong for a reckless challenge on Philipp Lamm.

81' - Ozil's day is over, as Kroos finally comes into the game to shore up the defense and help protect what's now a one-goal lead.

83' - Robben done for the day, as Dirk Kuyt comes on for the final push.

85' - Van der Vaart takes his first shot of the day, sending it just wide to the right.

89' - Germany has no interest in attacking on their latest corner.

90' - Netherlands barely avoids great embarrassment, as Stekelenberg tries to outmaneuver Klose, and the ball goes out just wide of the goal.

'90 + 1 - Just into three minutes of stoppage time, and Willems gets a yellow card.

'90 + 2 - Muller done for the day, as Lars Bender gets a brief appearance. Netherlands not able to get anything resembling an offensive chance yet in stoppage time, as they're pinned in their own end. Germany is content to coast to the win.

FULL-TIME, NETHERLANDS 1-2 GERMANY. One last desperate hope for the Netherlands off a goal-kick, but Germany denies any attempt to send it forward, and earn a spot in the quarterfinals with their second win of the group stage.
