The Pittsburgh Penguins have been one of the best teams in the NHL all season and now they play the Washington Capitals on Tuesday night at the CONSOL Energy Center and that means Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin are facing off and the game is live at 7:30 pm ET and streaming online from the NBC Sports Network Live Extra website.
The matchup comes as the two teams played on Monday night and now they are finishing up the home and home after the Penguins got a win on the road and now they host the team at home on Tuesday night. Crosby has been excellent once again this season and the team has 90 points and they are the clear leaders in the Metro division, while the Caps have 70 points on the season and the Penguins have 13 more wins and this is an important game for both sides as the schedule pushes towards the end of the season.
The Penguins continue their rivalry stretch next with the Philadelphia Flyers and that game will be on the road on Saturdays after a nice long break. The team comes into the game ranked in the top 10 in all the important categories and they are fifth in the league in scoring with over three goals per game. The team is ranked first in both penalty kill and power play percentage and they are also ranked eighth in goals against. Crosby has 87 points this season and he once again leads his rival and now the team is up over the Rangers, Flyers and the Blue Jackets in the division, while Washington is trying to move up over those teams, as they are all within a few points.
The Penguins are undefeated this season against the Caps and they have won six straight overall and now the Capitals will try and change that on the road. Chris Kunitz and Sidney Crosby both scored to get to 30 goals for the season and now Pitt seems primed for another postseason run. The Capitals come into the game after the Penguins loss and then they will host the Vancouver Canucks and they are looking to get back into things after the defeat. Ovie has his work cut out for him and the team comes in 12th in scoring and 24th in goals against and they are also second in power play percentage this season.
