Arsenal Transfer News: Giroud Arrival Could Lead to Walcott Demotion

Despite battling multiple injuries, Arsenal Striker Theo Walcott notched 13 goals last season.  But on the heels of his most successful effort since joining Arsenal in 2006, Walcott's role with the club may be in serious doubt.

Lukas Podolski of Germany has already made his union with the North London club official.  French Striker Olivier Giroud, is projected to follow suit shortly.

Podolski may not necessarily be a threat to Walcott directly.  Known for his versatility, the club may choose to place the German international in a variety of front spots.

However, couple Podolski's arrival with an expected Giroud and things grow bleaker for the injury plagued Walcott.

Arsenal captain, Robin Van Persie may benefit from being surrounded by both new (Giroud pending) acquisitions, which would theoretically force Walcott further down the pecking order.  Compound the issue with the budding emergence of youngster, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and the bench may be imminent for Walcott.

The club and supporters alike are growing restless of Walcott's lack of durability and chances for redemption appear to be running short.
