The English Premier League table standings has Chelsea in first place over Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City and with Manchester United resting in sixth place and out of trophy contention, star Wayne Rooney has admitted that watching rival clubs dominate the league has hurt his pride a bit and after the results on Saturday, Manchester City is now in second position after their win over Hull City.
Chelsea has been at the top of the league table for a number of weeks and Manchester United comes into the weekend at 18 points out from the Blues and they also are not in Champions League position either. The team is looking up at those other clubs, with Liverpool seven points back and Manchester City in the fourth spot and that would be the closest the United can grab with the schedule left on the season. Manchester United won last season, but this year under David Moyes things have been much tougher and Rooney said he wants to try his best to bring the team back to their usual standards.
Moyes has been getting plenty of press about the season United is having and they are coming back after losing their first leg Champions League match against Olympiakos and their next quarterfinals leg will be at Old Trafford. Chelsea comes into the weekend with 66 points and 29 matches played, while Liverpool and Arsenal are second and third and have each played 28 and Manchester City is in solid position heading into the back stretch, while Manchester United has no margin for error heading into the end of the season schedule.
