The Seattle Seahawks and Jared Allen appear to be close to a deal for the free agent defensive end, but the former Vikings star will take the weekend to decide what to do about his future and it comes as teams like the Dallas Cowboys, Patriots, New York Giants and Washington Redskins all had interest in the rusher.
Allen met with the Seahawks this week for the second time and he left his visit without a contract, but all signs point to the team adding Allen, as they would like to continue bolstering their pass rush after signing back Michael Bennett this offseason. According to ESPN.com, Allen is spending time this weekend at his home in Arizona and deciding what to do with the next stage of his career. Seattle was one of the best defensive teams in the league last season and adding Allen would only upgrade the pass rush once again.
Allen is coming off of another solid season with the Vikings and while he is going to be 32 this season, Allen had 11 sacks last year and has had at least that many in every season with the Vikes. Allen has also been very consistent and he did not miss time while with the Vikings and now general manager John Schneider and coach Pete Carroll are hoping that he decides to sign with the Seahawks.
Allen is one of the active leaders in career sacks and he has been a force for the Vikings since coming over from the Chiefs and while he will make less than other free agents like DeMarcus Ware and Julius Peppers, he will get to play for the Super Bowl champions.
