Denver Broncos Rumors: Knowshon Moreno To Miami Dolphins Option Over Chris Johnson Trade As Cowboys, Steelers Like Free Agent RB?

Knowshon Moreno is still on the free agent market and rumors have the Miami Dolphins as the top landing spot for the RB for the team over a trade for Chris Johnson and after visiting in Florida, the Denver Broncos could look to bring him back, while the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers are also options after they met with Maurice Jones-Drew.

The Dolphins are coming into the 2014 season looking to upgrade at running back and while they could use the draft for that, the team has also met with Moreno and they could sign him this week. According to ESPN.com, general manager Dennis Hickey said that the meeting with Moreno went well and that the talks are ongoing and as that news came out, NFL.com reported that the Broncos would be open to re-signing Moreno if he came in at the right price. Moreno put up career best numbers last season for the Broncos and now he could end up back with Montee Ball after the two split time last season.

Moreno was in the doghouse in Denver in his early career and he truly blossomed last season with Peyton Manning at quarterback, as he had his first 1,000 yard season and double digit touchdown season. Moreno had missed 15 games over the previous two seasons before 2013, but last year he played in all 16 and he set career highs in receptions, yards and targets as well and that could make him a fine weapon for a number of teams, as he showed that he can be very solid out of the backfield as a receiver and he was a good pass blocking back last season as well.

The Dolphins ranked 26th in the league in rushing last season with Lamar Miller and Daniel Thomas and they need an upgrade at the position and bringing on Moreno could open up the offense for quarterback Ryan Tannehill. The team is reshaping the offensive line after giving up nearly 60 sacks last season and that was the worst in the league and bringing on another running back could help make the offense more consistent as well. The team has also looked at running backs like Tre Mason and Carlos Hyde and if Moreno signs elsewhere that could be an option.

The team has been mentioned as a potential destination for a Chris Johnson trade, but they likely to not want to take on his $8 million salary despite the fact that they have room for it. The Steelers have shown interest in Moreno and Maurice Jones-Drew, but so far no deal has gone down and now he could end up back with the Broncos. The Dallas Cowboys could be a fit as well, but they may stick with the stable of backs they currently have behind DeMarco Murray, as Jerry Jones likes Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar after they filled in last season. Moreno is the top back left on the market and he could be a great addition for a number of teams in need of a boost in the running game.
