Dallas Cowboys Rumors: Knowshon Moreno Option As Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, Pittsburgh Steelers To Sign Free Agent Running Back?

Knowshon Moreno is still on the free agent market and while the Denver Broncos are interested in bringing him back, the running back has interest from other teams and apart from the Miami Dolphins, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals could be interested in signing him.

Moreno is coming off of his best career season after going over 1,000 yards for the first time and hitting double digit touchdowns and while he has not garnered a ton of attention on the market, he remains the best free agent running back left after Ben Tate, Rashad Jennings and Darren McFadden signed. According to ESPN.com, Moreno met with the Dolphins last week and while general manager Dennis Hickey said things went well, so far no deal has been struck between the two sides and that means he could end up signing with another team. Pro Football Talk reported that the Denver Broncos would be open to bringing back Moreno at the right price, but he may wait on the market for what he sees as a better deal. Moreno was great in the Broncos offense last season and he set career highs in receptions and yards as well.

Moreno is a solid pass blocker and he can catches balls out of the backfield and that would provide an upgrade to the Miami offense, which sputtered at the end of the season and scored just seven points over the final two games. The team ranked 26th in rushing last season with just 90 yards per game and they need to improve in that area and adding Moreno to a stable that has Daniel Thomas and Lamar Miller would be a great upgrade after the stats they put up last season.

Ryan Tannehill's development will be helped along by a solid running game and the team is also overhauling their offensive line after giving up 58 sacks and Moreno would be able to help with pass blocking as well. While many say Peyton Manning helped Moreno get to 1,038 yards since everyone was focused on the passing game, he still put up some very good overall numbers and he could help open up the offense for the Dolphins after making 60 catches last season for nearly 550 yards and he played in all 16 games for the first time since his rookie year after dealing with injuries over the past two seasons.

The Dallas Cowboys could be another option, as they would like to have some depth behind DeMarco Murray along with Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar and after ranking 24th in the league in rushing they could be a fit. The team would love to help out Tony Romo with another solid running back and after the way Moreno played last season, he would fit in well on the offense. Moreno is a good pass catching back and while Murray can do that as well, putting another good player on the roster could really open things up for Romo. The team gained just 94 yards per game last season and they need to do better to get back to the playoffs.
