The Baylor Bears have made it through to the Sweet Sixteen despite their unpredictable play. The team has never met up with Wisconsin in the history of the two teams, but the Badgers and Bears will not face off in hopes of earning a spot in the West Regional final and the elite eight.
Both the Badgers and the Bears have extensive experience in the Sweet 16. The second-seeded Wisconsin team has been to the Sweet 16 three of the past four years. Baylor on the other hand has been to this round three of the last five years. The stakes are high for both teams to continue their runs of success and keep up the consistency of the programs.
Wisconsin got through the tournament after dealing with one of the toughest schedules this season in college basketball. The Badgers had to beat five Top-25 teams. Their defense remained one of the top factors of success, giving up an average of 64.6 points to opponents. That will help them get past the Sweet 16, something that has been tough for the Badgers. The team has only reached just one regional final and does not have a single Final Four appearance in 13 straight trips to the NCAA tournament. A berth in the Final Four would be a first for the Badgers' head coach.
The Bears have some success past the Sweet 16. The team has won 17 of 20 postseason games in the last six years. They reached the regional final in 2010 and 2012 and they won the NIT tournament last season. Baylor gets plenty of praise for their athleticism having knocked off both Nebraska and Creighton to reach the Sweet 16. If the Bears can get two more wins, they head to the Final Four at home in Texas which would give them an excellent homecourt advantage.
