Seattle Seahawks Rumors: DeSean Jackson Option As Ryan Clark, Kenny Britt, Miles Austin, Jermichael Finley, Santonio Holmes Free Agent Targets?

The Seattle Seahawks won the Super Bowl and after losing a number of players in free agency, released wideout DeSean Jackson remains a free agent option, while names like Kenny Britt, Miles Austin, Jermichael Finley, Santonio Holmes and Will Smith are still available to sign after Pete Carroll lost Golden Tate, Sidney Rice and Walter Thurmond in free agency.

The Seahawks were careful this offseason not to overspend, as they have to extend the contracts of three very important players in Russell Wilson, Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman over the next year. The team still has some money to spend on lower level names and they could be looking at wideouts in the draft or on the free agent market like Austin and Britt to help make up for the production that Rice and Tate had over the past couple years. According to ESPN.com, the team is also meeting with Ryan Clark and he could be an option to add depth in the secondary at a cheap price.

According to ESPN.com, the team lost 10 players to free agency through new contracts or cuts and the website writes that they have over 75 catches and nearly 1,200 yards and eight touchdowns to replace on the roster and that comes from Tate and Rice in the receiving corps. Rice played in six games before getting injured for the season and Tate ended up signing with the Detroit Lions on a new contract.

DeSean Jackson has reportedly been considered a target since he was released by the Philadelphia Eagles and the Seahawks sure know what he can do, as Carroll watched him play at Cal in college before he was a second round pick. While he had some issues un Philly, the Seahawks are a welcoming team and they once brought in another troubled player in Marshawn Lynch and that worked out well and now they could do the same with Jackson, who set highs last season in yards, catches and touchdowns while playing under Chip Kelly, another former Pac-12 coach.

Britt had a horrible season with just 11 catches in and he had under 100 yards and zero touchdowns and now he is looking for a new deal, while Finley has also been a target but he has not been medically cleared to play yet. Austin was released by the Cowboys and the team could go after him as well after he had 24 catches last season for 244 yards. According to NFL.com, Clark has visited the Seahawks and he could be an option after he has had interest from the Jets and Redskins and he could be a nice addition to a secondary that already includes Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor in the Legion of Boom.
