Oakland Raiders Rumors: Johnny Manziel Drafted Despite Matt Schaub Trade? Terrelle Pryor, Matt McGloin Likely Released if QB Selected Over Jadeveon Clowney

The Oakland Raiders might be saying that Matt Schaub is "their guy" for the 2014 season, but working off a one-year deal means nothing in guaranteed, especially with that team. Behind Schaub, the Raiders have some promising options, but no one appears to be the quarterback of the future. So what are the Raiders doing to mend that? Bringing in Johnny Manziel for a workout of course.

ESPN Insider Adam Schefter is reporting that Manziel will come in for a workout in Oakland on Monday morning. The former Texas A&M star is reportedly staying for two nights with the team. This is the first or many visits Manziel has on the calendar. The quarterback is also scheduled to meet with the New England Patriots, Minnesota Vikings and Houston Texans prior to the NFL Draft where many have him projected as the No. 1 overall pick. While many teams bring in the top players to merely drive up other's interest levels so they can grab someone else, the Raiders fondness towards the quarterback appears very real.

Reggie McKenzie has not been shy about his love for the quarterback. The Raiders general manager praised the playmaking abilities of Manziel and the excitement he can bring to the offensive attack for 2014. All of those descriptions are certainly true and Manziel would do a lot for the Raiders offensively. With the No. 5 overall pick, there is the possibility that Manziel is still available for drafting. However, it brings up questions surrounding the other remaining quarterbacks on the Raiders' roster.

Schaub is not going anywhere. While Oakland did not invest a lot in him, the team will not have Matt Flynn 2.0 and release Schaub mid-way through the season. Behind him are Matt McGloin and Terrelle Pryor, both of whom spent time at starter last season. Could McGloin or Pryor be cut or traded if the Raiders land a quarterback like Manziel?

The Raiders have been trying to trade Pryor since the NFL owners meeting, but no one is biting. McKenzie has announced the quarterback will be released if no deal is met by another team. However, there is always the chance that McGloin gets put out of a job. If the Raiders pull off a miracle and get Manziel, Pryor fits in more with his style. The Raiders will have to plan what type off offensive they will run to determine whether they keep on a pocket-passer or duel threat option.
