The Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics are playing on the MLB schedule for Friday night and the game at 10:10 pm ET has the home debut of Felix Hernandez and the King will get a Supreme Court at Safeco Field and it comes streaming from the MLB.com website from the Pacific Northwest for the AL West matchup.
The Mariner have been off to a solid start to the season, although they have slowed a bit after opening 3-0, as they have gone just 2-3 since then and they are hoping that having Felix on the mound for his first home start will help that. The team comes in after getting shutout by the Angels and that was a two game series and while they got the win in their home opener, they couldn't get another one after that and Garrett Richards got the win on Wednesday after James Paxton got the win for the Mariners on Tuesday despite having to leave the game with an injury and now he is on the DL.
The Mariners have a number of injuries they need to overcome and Paxton is just the latest, but the rotation will be getting some support soon, as Taijuan Walker and Hisashi Iwakuma are set come back very soon. The team is waiting for Robinson Cano to hit his first home run and while he has played well so far, the power should be coming soon and both Justin Smoak and Dustin Ackley have appeared to turn things around a bit with the presence of Cano. The team is 15th in runs and they are hitting .228, but they are a young team and they have the chance to surprise many in the AL if they can just hang on a bit in the division.
The game on Friday has Hernandez against Tommy Milone, while Sonny Gray and Erasmo Ramirez will be matching up on Saturday before the season finale on Sunday and they come into the game looking to get back on track. The team has been very solid in the starting rotation and they are ranked fourth in the MLB in ERA right now with a sub 3.00 number and they are 18th in quality starts, but they are also first in WHIP and batting average by opponents and they are hoping that can stay afloat with the pitchers on the DL.
The A's come into the game after winning against the Minnesota Twins and Dan Straily won that matchup, while the team now is looking to get some division wins under their belt and they are first right now with a 6-3 record. The team is ranked 10th in runs with 41 this season and they are in the top 10 in on base percentage and 17th in batting average and they are hitting .242 and the pitching has been excellent. The team is ranked second in ERA and first in quality starts and they also are fifth in WHIP and fourth in batting average and they are looking to keep that up against King Felix.
