The Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers are going back and forth on the Eastern Conference lead with the Indiana Pacers. Just one night after defeating the team for the Eastern Conference lead, the team losses to the Atlanta Hawks. Even Dwyane Wade's presence made no different. Now, the team is in a must-win situation against the Washington Wizards for the top spot in the conference.
The Heat had moved in to a half a game ahead of Indiana. However, a loss to the Atlanta Hawks has set them back again. The Pacers own the tiebreaker in the series thanks to the better conference record. Now, the Heat must win against the Wizards and against the Philadelphia 76ers while the Pacers lose to the Magic if they have a chance at getting the No. 1 seed.
Wade's return did not help against Atlanta. The guard had 24 points on 10 for 14 shooting, but his 20 turnovers killed the effort. Miami has lost three of their las four to fall to 11-12 in the month of March which includes going 3-8 on the road. This was Wade's second game in the past three weeks. his improved stats gave some excitement to the team.
The game against the Wizards will likely be the first-round playoff matchup. Washington sits in sixth place with a one-game lead over Charlotte. The Wizards just lost in overtime to the Bobcats, but bounced back with a win over Orlando and Milwaukee. If the Wizards can finish in sixth, they would avoid a matchup with the Heat or the Pacers in the playoffs until the finals. The Wizards have lost 12 straight to Indiana and have lost their last four to Miami by an average of 19.3 points.
