Boston Red Sox Rumors: Dustin Pedroia Avoids Wrist Fracture, Fantasy Baseball Short Term Free Agents Neil Walker and Dee Gordon

The Boston Red Sox received some good news about second baseman Dustin Pedroia and his wrist, as the All-Star avoided a fracture and he now could avoid the DL after getting tests done on his wrist according to ESPN.com.

The Boston Red Sox got good news on Dustin Pedroia this week, as the second baseman did not suffer a wrist fracture against the New York Yankees and while he will be out of the lineup for now, the fact that the left wrist does not have a significant injury was called "great" news by a source close to the team after reports came out that Pedroia was getting tests on it.

Pedroia has been off to a slow start this season and he is hitting .236 and only has 55 at-bats this season and now the team is hoping that he can rest his wrist and heal up before retuning. According to ESPN.com, Pedroia was sent back to Boston while the Yankees played on Sunday night and now the team will continue on their road trip against the Chicago White Sox. Pedroia was pulled from the lineup in the game on Sunday after he dealt with some soreness in his wrist and that first came up after playing the previous week in Boston and was aggravated against the Yankees.

Pedroia has been dealing with a wrist issue since the team played against the Brewers and it came on a play where Carlos Gomez came into second base on the two made contact. Pedroia is one of the best second baseman in baseball and is usually a reliable option for fantasy owners. Pedroia could be back with the team in Chicago, but that doesn't mean he will return to the lineup.
