The Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues are playing live on the NHL playoffs schedule on Friday night and the game starts up at 8 pm ET and will be on TV from the NBC Sports Network and will be online streaming from the Live Extra website and it all goes down for Game 5 at the Scottrade Center and the series is tied 2-2 in the western conference.
The Blackhawks have now won two straight games in the series and they are looking to continue that strong play after winning their last game in overtime and that was on Wednesday at home at the United Center. Corey Crawford had 30 saves in that game and while Ryan Miller also put up that many, Patrick Kane was able to put the most important shot through and that was the overtime winning goal in the game. Kane had three points with two goals and an assist in that game and now the team is looking to win three in a row as they try to take control.
The Blackhawks are the Stanley Cup champions from last season and in Game 3 Crawford pitched a shutout to help get the series to 2-1 and now the Blackhawks are hoping they can steal back the lead. The last game was 4-3 in overtime and the next game will be on Sunday at the United Center and if the Hawks can steal Game 5, that will be an elimination game for the Blues.
Chicago comes into the playoffs as one of the most consistent teams in the NHL, as they were ranked second in scoring during the season with Kane and Patrick Toews leading the way and they were 12th in goals against. Crawford has been great in the playoffs and he had another very good season and the team was also 10th in power play percentage and ranked 19th in penalty kill percentage. The Blues are sixth in the league in scoring and third in goals against from the season and they were also in the top 10 in penalty kill and power play percentage.
Vladimir Tarasenko and Kevin Shattenkirk have been the leaders for the Blues and they are tops in points, goals and assists for the team, while Toews and Kane are leading the Hawks. Toews was injured at the end of the season and he has returned strong, while the Hawks are ready to get Brent Seabrook back after he was suspended for his hit in Game 1. Toews is a Selke Trophy nominee this season and he has been looking to get the Blackhawks back on track and now he has the chance for three straight wins for his team.
