The NY Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers arte playing on the NHL schedule on Wednesday night and the Game 7 playoffs matchup comes live online and streaming from the NBC Sports Network and has the team looking to end the series at Madison Square Garden and the matchup is a winner take all to see who will advance to the second round out of the east.
The Flyers come in after dominating in Game 6, but the Rangers were able to score a couple goals at the end to cut the game from 4-0 to end up at 5-2 and while it was a bad performance, that last bit of solid play could carry over for the team. The Flyers clearly have the momentum since Game 7 is coming the day after Game 6, but those two goals could be huge for the Rangers, who have not been able to win two games in a row in this series and now the teams have alternated wins and losses until Game 7.
The matchup is a big one for the Rangers, as they could advance to the second round for the third straight season and this is the first time the two teams have played in over a decade and the Flyers won that series. The Rangers started off with a win at MSG and while Brad Richards was great in that game, he has not done much since putting in a goal with two assists and the team needs him and Rick Nash along with Martin St. Louis to step up.
Henrik Lundqvist was not at his best in Game 6 and he was eventually pulled and now the King must have a rebound game or the Rangers have no chance in the matchup. Steve Mason has been solid since returning to the starting lineup and he was great once again in Game 6 and now the Rangers will have to find a way to keep scoring, as Mason had 34 saves in the game on Tuesday night. That matchup for Game 6 was in Philly and now it returns home to MSG for the Rangers and it is one of three Game 7 matchups on Wednesday, as the Minnesota Wild and Colorado Avalanche play along with the LA Kings and San Jose Sharks.
Wayne Simmonds had three goals for the Flyers in the game on Tuesday and Philly scored three times in the second period and one advantage for the Rangers is that Mason has never won a game in MSG in his career. The Rangers know that they have on chance to win the series and it comes after a tough loss in Game 6 and now Mason returns after getting the start in Game 5 at MSG and this could be the chance to get his first win in the building.
The Rangers and Flyers have gone back and forth in the series and Dominic Moore had goals in back to back games for the Rangers and Carl Hagelin had one of the foals in the loss on Tuesday night. Rick Nash and St. Louis need to show why they are two of the best scorers in the league and they will be needed on the front line and if the Rangers start off aggressive, they could put Mason off balance to start the game.
