NBA Playoffs Series Standings 2014: Portland Trail Blazers Advance After Damian Lillard Shot Into Second Round With Rockets Win Friday

The Portland Trail Blazers have won the series over the Houston Rockets after an amazing last second shot from Damian Lillard and now they are through into the second round of the playoffs.

The NBA playoffs series standings in 2014 has the Portland Trail Blazers leading the Houston Rockets 3-2 in their western conference first round series and with a win on Friday in Game 6, which starts at 10:30 pm ET at the Moda Center,  the team will advance into round 2 and their second round matchup will be a tough one no matter who advances and it comes as the Rockets pulled out Game 5 at home and the Blazers could win for a 4-2 series victory.

The Rockets come into the game looking to stay alive in the series and they now have to win on the road against the Blazers, who have played very well during the playoffs and can finish the series off with a win on Friday. The Rockets have been right there in most of the games but they haven't been able to pull through and while they have gotten scoring from James Harden, Dwight Howard and Chandler Parsons, it hasn't been enough to get over the hump and now those three will need to come through to get the victory at the Moda Center.

LaMarcus Aldridge started off the series playing very well with back to back 40-point efforts, but in the last game he was held under 10 points and now he has to rebound for the team to win on Friday night. The other games on the schedule include the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks, while the Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets are also playing and that will be at the Barclays Center.

The NBA has three Game 7 matchups on Saturday and that is the first time that has ever happened and it could play out again on Sunday if all the teams down 3-2 win on Friday night. That would make the first round of the playoffs by far the best ever and some have already said that the 2014 postseason is just that. The Miami Heat and the Washington Wizards are the only teams through to the next round and that gives them even more time to rest and that is huge for LeBron James and company.

The games on Saturday night include the Memphis Grizzlies and OKC Thunder playing game 7 in Oklahoma City, while Atlanta and the Pacers will play in Indiana as the Hawks try to upset the number one team in the east. The Clippers have been playing in some tough circumstances and they now have the chance to play against the Warriors and close that series out and it will be coming from the Staples Center starting up at 10:30 pm.
