EPL Table English Premier League Standings: Liverpool and Manchester City Tied First Over Chelsea, Reds Knock Blues From Title With Win Monday

The EPL Table has Chelsea close to the top in the English Premier League standings for one day, as they are in second place by one point behind Liverpool and Manchester City after their scoreless draw at Stamford Bridge with Norwich City and with Man City winning this weekend and Liverpool playing Monday, Chelsea can get knocked from the title race by a win from the Reds and that comes after the Blues won at Anfield last weekend.

Chelsea kept its hopes alive last week with the upset victory at Anfield against Liverpool and they needed a win today to stay really in the race, but now it is very unlikely that they will get the title. The Blues had been perfect at Stamford Bridge all season before losing against Sunderland and then the team fell to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League before the draw on Sunday and that blew a chance for the team to jump to the top of the standings. Had the Blues won, there was a much better chance they could win the title, as it was always possible, although unlikely, that Man City and Liverpool could stumble in their final fixtures.

Jose Mourinho may have brought some of it on himself with his move with Eden Hazard and that left the Blues without much attack and they ended up in the 0-0 draw and now they blew the chance to move into the top spot at least for a day against a team that is 18th in the standings. The Canaries had only 28 goals this season before coming into the match and while Hazard came in for the second half, the only real chance for the team was a shot off the post in the first half. Chelsea has many questions coming into the offseason and the team will wonder what happened, as they were leading the league before their away loss against Crystal Palace and that allowed Liverpool to jump ahead.

Olivier Giroud scored for Arsenal against West Brom in the early match and they are fourth in the Premier League standings over Tottenham and Everton.
