The San Francisco 49ers made some big moves at the NFL draft, including trading for Stevie Johnson and now another trade could be going down, as LaMichael James is on the trading block and he could get moved after the Niners selected Carlos Hyde in the draft in the second round and some other names that could be on their way out include Daniel Thomas and Lamar Miller with the Dolphins.
The 49ers have been shopping James for some time according to ESPN.com and while the Eagles traded for Darren Sproles in the offseason, they just unloaded Bryce Brown and could use another backup for LeSean McCoy. Chip Kelly knows what kind of player James is and while he didn't make the rotation with the Niners, he could be a great weapon for the Eagles. The team needs another electric return man after losing DeSean Jackson and James has explosive speed from the backfield. James could be had for a low draft pick and with the Niners using Frank Gore, Kendall Hunter, Marcus Lattimore and now Hyde, there is no room for James.
Hyde is a tough runner with good hands and he comes into the NFL after rushing for over 1,500 yards last season and double digit touchdowns for Ohio State. Hyde was one of the top running backs coming out of college this past season with the draft and now the Niners could be making more moves. The Eagles may not even be interested in James after getting Sproles, but one of their backs has a shoulder injury and he could be a nice addition to the offense for Kelly.
Miami has some decisions to make, as Miller or Thomas is likely out of a job after the team brought in Knowshon Moreno and they could use to upgrade the backfield even after signing him. Last season the team ranked 26th in the league in rushing with just 90 yards per game and that put the offense in some tough spots and now Ryan Tannehill needs to show he is not a bust. The team needs him to develop into a solid starter and upgrading the offensive line and the rushing game is a way to do that.
