Miami Heat Parade 2012 Taking Place on Monday

The Miami Heat are world champions and of course, this calls for a public celebration.

According to NBC Miami, the Heat will have their parade on Monday, June 25th.

The parade will begin on Calle Ocho and work its way down Brickell, pass by the International Hotel in Downtown Miami, then finally conclude in the American Airlines Arena, home of the Miami Heat.

Parades usually take place a couple of days after the championship, but with chances of rain threatening the Miami area over the weekend, it was safer to wait until Monday.

The city of Miami has not had a parade since 2006, when Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O'Neal teamed up to win a championship.

It was the franchise's first chip, along with Wade's first taste of glory at the age of 24. Shaq won his fourth and last ring as an NBA player that year.

In 2012, LeBron James will stroll around the city of Miami as a champion for the first time in his career.

If nine painful seasons without a championship, LeBron was finally able to claim victory after the Heat defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder, Thursday night, 121-106 to win the NBA Finals.

Veterans Mike Miller and Shane Battier will also captured their first championship after both players have spent a combined 23 seasons in the NBA.

Miller and Battier hit a flurry of threes in the series. Miller hit all of his seven in Game 5.

It is time for the city of Miami to once again celebrate. The parade is set to begin at 11 AM EDT.
