Andre Johnson Trade Rumors: Oakland Raiders, Patriots Targets For Houston Texans After Tom Savage Frustration and Workouts Absence?

Andre Johnson has not demanded a trade yet, but the Houston Texans wide receiver has expressed his frustration about the direction of the franchise and the pick of Tom Savage in the draft at quarterback over other potential names and with him absent from most offseason workouts and organized team activities, a trade could be coming and teams like the Oakland Raiders and Patriots could be targets.

Johnson has been one of the best receivers in football for his career and with him at 32 years old, he has started to reflect on his time in Houston and with a new head coach coming in, it might be time to move on. Johnson spoke to the media and said that he wonders whether this is the place for him anymore after playing for three head coaches and making the playoffs twice. Johnson wants to try and win and while a team like the Raiders may not be the best place for that, the Patriots could be a fit but a trade would be difficult.

The team could look to move Danny Amendola for Johnson, which could make the Texans more likely to make a move, but right now no trade talk has come up with the two sides. According to ESPN.com, Johnson has been frustrated with the lack of immediacy at the quarterback position and while Ryan Fitzpatrick is solid and Tom Savage is a nice prospect, at 32 years old, Johnson doesn't have much time to wait for the Texans to rebuild after going just 2-14 last season. Johnson made 109 catches for 1,407 yards and five touchdowns despite playing with a terrible Matt Schaub and an undrafted rookie in Case Keenum and now he could look to move to another team if he is not satisfied with the way things are going this summer.

Johnson has been frustrated by the way the team played last season and he wants to get back to the playoffs. The Raiders may not be that team, but they are on the up and up and with Schaub going to the Raiders, Johnson could fit right in with his old QB, as the two put up great numbers in the past despite what happened last season. The Raiders need receivers for Schaub and they also have a young quarterback in Derek Carr that is considered more pro ready than Savage is in Houston. The Texans lost 14 straight games last season and Johnson did not complain too much apart from a couple weeks in the middle of the streak, but that can be forgiven based on how bad the team played.

The Raiders have added a ton of free agents and they feel like they can compete this season with Justin Tuck and James Jones in the fold. Adding Johnson would take some smooth maneuvering because of his contract, but with Johnson wanting to get out, things could get easier on both sides. Either way, Johnson has made his opinion known and now it remains to be seen whether he will be traded or not. The Texans could get a nice package for him and that would help in the rebuilding process.
