US Olympics Track and Field: Nike Reveals New Suits

If I told you that a suit with dimples, that resembled a golf ball, would make you faster, would you believe me?

Well Nike has developed new uniforms that should shave a little over 0.02 seconds from their 100M sprint times.

That does not seem like a lot, but this could be the difference between winning gold or silver.

For example, last year Walter Dix could have won Silver, as he lost by 0.023 seconds. That is 23-thousands of a second.

With the suits, the U.S. will attempt to cut the gap between their racers and Usain Bolt, who is an absolute monster.

The suits use more dense material, but after experts studied golf balls, they noticed that the dimples and texture of golf balls make them effective.

Along with the suits, Nike created sneakers that would reduce the weight by 19 percent. The sneakers, which will be used by marathon runners, will help them from lugging the weight equivalent of a car after the marathon is complete.

Clothing technology has proven useful in the past.

In 2008, the U.S. used Speedo LZR Racer for their swim meets. Michael Phelps, along with the rest of the team, completely crushed world records in Beijing.

The speed suits will come in different colors and sizes, as they are trying to give each racer their own individual, sleek look.

The suits were displayed in New York City this past Thursday.

The Olympics are set to begin in 34 days.
