The NY Rangers came into the game with a chance to clinch and that came after the team played in Montreal for Game 5 with the ability to end the series for the Canadiens. That game took a number of twists and turns and now the Rangers are into the Stanley Cup finals.
The Rangers ended up pulling Henrik Lundqvist in the game in Montreal and while that is a tough thing to deal with, the star goalie said it's hockey and that he understood and that he is ready to come back with a big game on Thursday. Hank bouncing back from a bad game is nothing new even in this playoffs, as he was pulled in Game 6 against the Flyers and came back in Game 7 to stop all but one shot to win that series. The Rangers came into the game closer than they have been in 20 years to making the Stanley Cup and while they stumbled on Tuesday night, sometimes that's just hockey.
The Game 5 matchup turned into a mess, with both teams scoring a number of sloppy goals and the Canadiens coming out on top after a late barrage. The Rangers were able to get Derek Stepan back after the horrible and illegal hit from Brandon Prust in the series earlier in Montreal and he scored two goals to help his team. The Rangers lost John Moore for Game 6 as Prust returned and he is a former Rangers player and he will get that treatment from now on.
The Rangers and Canadiens series has taken a number of wild turns and early on the story was all about Carey Price and his injury after dealing with Chris Kreider, but soon after Dustin Tokarski took over and played very well for Montreal.
