The World Cup schedule 2014 in Brazil had Spain playing Chile on Wednesday in Group B and the game ended in another defeat for the defending champions and now they are eliminated from the tournament, while the Netherlands and Chile will both advance to the knockout stage and they will play next week to determine who is the group winner moving on.
Spain opened the tournament with a tough loss and that was 5-1 to the Netherlands and that made this game against Chile a must win after the nation defeated Australia. Now Australia and Spain are eliminated and did not get a point heading into their third matches and the Dutch are the favorites to get out of Group B and into the knockout stage as a winner. Iker Casillas is a great player, but he allowed seven goals in this tournament and Spain could not get enough scoring and now they are done and that means a new champions will be crowned.
Spain was able to make a comeback after losing to the Swiss in the opener in 2010, but it was not a repeat this time and now one of the greatest runs in international soccer history is over. The team won the World Cup in 2010 in South Africa and also won the 2012 Euro tournament and now they are done and this means Brazil, Germany, the Dutch and Argentina are the favorites left and this is a very disappointing performance from the team.
Arturo Vidal, Alexis Sanchez and Charles Aranguiz were able to get the goal for Chile and they helped set up Eduardo Vargas and now Chile is through. The Netherlands looks very strong and now the Group B set looks like it will produce teams that can go deep.
