MLB Standings 2014: Division Leaders AL and NL Wild Cards Into July All-Star Break

The MLB Standings for the 2014 season has the Oakland Athletics and Milwaukee Brewers as the best teams in baseball and they are among the AL and NL division leaders with the Toronto Blue Jays, Detroit Tigers, Atlanta Braves, San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers, while the Seattle Mariners, LA Angels and Nationals are in wild card position heading towards the All-Star break in July.

The AL east has the Blue Jays on top and they have been playing very well this season, while the Detroit Tigers are first in the AL Central. The Oakland Athletics lead the AL west and they are ahead of the Angels by five games, the largest lead in the American League. The Brewers have the largest lead in the NL in the central division, while the Braves are a half game up and the Dodgers and Giants are up 10 on the Rockies.

The American League wild card has nearly every team in contention and there are four within five games, including the Yankees, Orioles, Royals and Indians. The Seattle Mariners have been the most surprising team in baseball and they are 45-38 and in the second wild card behind the Angels in the AL. The team won over the Houston Astros with a home run from Robinson Cano and with the way Felix Hernandez is pitching, they could be a surprise team in the AL. Taijuan Walker won his first start of the season and that addition gives the Mariners the strongest rotation they have had all year.

The National League wild card has the Dodgers and Giants since they are tied in the NL West and San Francisco has been in a major slump and LA has caught up after going 7-3 while they have gone 3-7. The Nationals are second and they are ahead of the Reds and Cardinals, who are tied at .5 games back, while the Pirates and Marlins are in the mix.
