The Baltimore Orioles have been relying on lesser known stars to get them wins right now in the season with several injuries on the roster. The Boston Red Sox are not getting production from anyone as they have lost three games straight while being 4-6 in their last 10. Both teams are hoping to be contenders in the American League East come the fall and need to put things together in this double-header.

Steve Pearce has been stepping up for Baltimore in the absence of Manny Muchado. He is helping Baltimore try and record two wins today which would cap off a six-game win streak. Muchado has been suspended for five games after throwing his bat onto the field back on June 8. He did homer in three of four games prior to that but Pearce has proven to be a solid replacement. He had a four-hit game on Thursday while adding two RBI and two stolen bases. Adam Jones is also producing with a .355 average and 10 home runs in June. 

Miguel Gonzalez will take the mound for the Orioles. He is 4-5 with a 4.56 ERA on the year. Since returning from the disabled list he has allowed 25 hits and five home runs in 14 innings of play. He has won all three starts against Boston with a 3.38 ERA. 

Boston will counter with Jon Lester who is 9-7 with a 2.92 ERA on the year. He has been excelling recently, going 3-0 with a 1.21 ERA in his last four starts. He outdueled Masahiro Tanaka against the Yankees, giving up just one unearned run and five hits in eight innings. The Red Sox are coming off getting swept by the Chicago Cubs at home and are in need of a win to change momentum.
