MLB Standings 2014: AL and NL Division Leaders and Wild Card Records At All Star Break

The MLB Standings into the All-Star break has some tight division races in the AL and NL this year and teams like the Baltimore Orioles, Detroit Tigers, Oakland Athletics, Washington Nationals, Milwaukee Brewers, St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers will be looking to remain in playoff position, while the LA Angels, Seattle Mariners, San Francisco Giants and a ton of other NL teams are in wild card contention.

The first half of the season has been exciting and in the National League things are starting to tighten up in some of the playoff races, including in the NL Central, NL East and in the wild card. The NL West is also very tight and that comes after the Giants had a nine game lead earlier in the season and now the Dodgers have pulled ahead for the time being.

The AL East has the Baltimore Orioles leading the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees, while the Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox are 9.5 games back. The Detroit Tigers have the biggest lead in baseball with a 7.5 game lead over the Kansas City Royals, while the Cleveland Indians are a game back of KC. The Oakland Athletics lead the AL West over the LA Angels, but that race is getting closer heading into the All-Star break, while the Mariners are currently holding down playoff position.

The NL East has the Nationals and Braves, while the Central is tight with four teams battling with the Cardinals, Brewers, Reds and Pirates. The NL West has the Dodgers and the Giants leading.

The National League wild card is a mess right now and that is due to the fact that some teams are tied in the division standings and that obviously will shake out in the second half. The Cardinals, Brewers, Nationals and Braves are all in position with the Giants and teams like the Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates remain in contention for the playoffs and the division.
