Some of the top prospects in all of baseball will be in the game and that includes Kris Bryant as well as Noah Syndergaard as well as DJ Peterson and those names among others will be on display on Sunday. The game is the 16th annual matchup of the futures players and there are top five and top 10 prospects on both sides and there have been five of 15 MVP's from this game that have made it to the All-Star game and amazingly 12 of 115 players to make it into the All-Star game overall have done it the next year.
The teams are set up as the US and World rosters and has some of the best players matching up, with DJ Peterson, Joey Gallo, Alex Meyer, Jake Thomson and Corey Seager leading the American side against Jose Berrios, Jorge Lopez and the rest of the world roster. The All-Star game is a great way for baseball to showcase their top players and the future game is a part of that as well and the game will also be airing on the MLB Gameday app as well as on the MLB Network Sirius channel on the radio. Tom Kelly and Bert Blyleven are matching up as the managers of the two teams and now this game will kick off the All-Star weekend.
DJ Peterson has been tearing things up in the minors, as has Kris Bryant and those players may soon be in the majors playing and so far there are 27 players in the game among the top 100 prospects in baseball. The World team has many countries represented this time around and there will be nine innings to play and a 10th if the game is tied and this is the first big event of All-Star weekend and comes ahead of the home run derby and that should be exciting as well on Monday night as Yoenis Cespedes tries to keep his title.
The futures game has many former players that are now in the majors and in the All-Star game, including Jose Altuve, Jason Heyward, Jose Fernandez, Bryce Harper and Adam Dunn and that adds to the potential possibilities of all these players. The rosters were put together from some of the best prospects around the minors and some of those players are minor league All-Stars and future cornerstones of their franchises and a player like Bryant could end up in the majors with the Cubs this season.
