The MLB All-Star Game 2014 is live from FOX on TV and streaming online Tuesday night from Target Field in Minnesota and the game has a live stream online and on the radio from the Fox Sports GO website as the American League and National League battle for World Series home field advantage and pitchers Felix Hernandez and Adam Wainwright are starting for the AL and NL as players like Derek Jeter, Jose Bautista, Mike Trout and Troy Tulowitzki play.
The game is for home field advantage in the World Series and that is good for the Oakland Athletics, as they have six players playing and they could be the team that needs it coming in. Jose Bautista was the top vote getter in baseball and this will also be the last All-Star game for Derek Jeter. Derek Jeter is in the game for the last time and he has made 13 appearances and now he will be at Target Field after first getting to the game back in 1999 when it was in Colorado. Jeter has said that he wants to meet all the young guys and do what veterans did for him back in the day and he will be honored at the game and is hitting in his usual leadoff spot.
The all star game gives many players their first and sometimes only chance to be at the midsummer classic and even though some people don't like the constant roster changes and additions, it's a good thing for young players and less known stars like Kyle Seager, who absolutely deserved to be on the team and made it after Edwin Encarnacion was injured. The Mariners actually have four players on the AL team this year and that's fitting, as the team is over .500 this late in the season for the first time in years and are in the second wild card spot.
The Mariners sent four players to the game for the first time in 10 years since the 2003 game and that was basically the last time the team was relevant in baseball. Felix Hernandez is starting the game for the AL, while Robinson Cano was voted as one of the starters by the fans for the fifth straight season, his first in a Seattle uniform. Seager and Fernando Rodney are also on the team and they are leaders in various categories, including Rodney leading the team in saves.
Minnesota gets the nod for the first time in over 20 years and while the Twins have not been great in recent years, they sure have a nice ballpark and after some rain on Monday, the game is ready to go on Tuesday night with coverage on FOX. The home run derby was delayed an hour due to the weather and now baseball is looking to get things going without any delays and it will have the call from Joe Buck, Tom Verducci and Harold Reynolds in the booth.
