Phoenix Suns Trade Rumors: Goran Dragic Traded To Indiana Pacers or Rockets After Isaiah Thomas Signs?

The Phoenix Suns have been an active team this offseason and a Goran Dragic trade could be going down with the Indiana Pacers or Houston Rockets after the team signed Isaiah Thomas and drafted Tyler Ennis at point guard, as the team sees itself as a young upstart and has a glut of players in the backcourt, including potentially Eric Bledsoe and they are looking to sign him back.

According to ESPN.com and writer Marc Stein, the Pacers are "dreaming" about a trade for Dragic, as they see him as a very solid upgrade over George Hill. The Pacers reportedly want a deal and could dangle Rou Hibbert, as the Suns went after Pau Gasol last season and still have a void at the center of their frontcourt and since they have a number of talented players in the back, they could be willing to part with Dragic. Pro Basketball Talk reports that the Suns are not looking to trade Dragic at this point, as they want to make sure they aren't in trouble if Bledsoe signs with another team like the Miami Heat, LA Lakers or Houston Rockets.

The Suns have Dragic along with Thomas, who was signed in a sign and trade deal with the Kings, as well as Archie Goodwin and now Tyler Ennis after picking him in the first round of the draft. Dragic has a team friendly contract at less than $10 million and that is another reason why the Suns are not in a rush to trade him. GMs around the league have praised Ryan McDonagh and the way he has built the franchise back, as they nearly made the playoffs last season and now have a number of talented players even if they aren't a postseason team again.

The Pacers want to upgrade over Hill after the way the team played last season in the playoffs, while the Rockets could look at making a move after trading Jeremy Lin. The Rockets cleared cap space and missed out on Chris Bosh and Carmelo Anthony and also allowed Chandler Parsons to leave and that has the team thinking about a deal. Stein also writes that Houston may look at a Rondo deal ort Kevin Love, but if those fall through, they could turn their attention to Dragic, as they want an upgrade at the point as well.

Dragic is coming in after winning most improved  player of the ear and he averaged 20 points and 5.9 assists for the Suns as they won 48 games. Thomas was a huge get for the Suns, as he was one of the most underrated players on the market. Thomas came over in a sign and trade and is coming off of a career season after averaging 20 points and six assists.

The Suns pulled the sign and trade to add more depth to the back court and while they want to sign Bledsoe as well, this is a nice fall back if it fails. The team lost Channing Frye but they retained PJ Tucker and now the team comes back with a strong core and while the west is very tough as a conference, there is no reason why the team can't compete for one of the bottom spots in the postseason like last year.
