The MLB schedule returns after the 2014 All-Star Break and the American League and National League teams are all in action and game start Friday with a number of solid series, including the Yankees taking on the Reds in the Bronx, while the Mariners and Angels play out west in LA along with other matchups like the Dodgers and Cardinals, Indians and Tigers as well as the Brewers and Nationals.
The standings are starting to take shape and in the AL, the Detroit Tigers are the only team that looks like a sure thing in their spot, as they are up six games on the Royals. The Angels are closing on the Athletics in the west, while the Orioles have a four game lead over the Jays and one more over the Yankees.
The NL is a crapshoot from top to bottom, as every division is not settled, including the East with the Braves and Nationals tied. The Cardinals are just one game back and the Reds and Pirates are closing on the Brewers, while in the West the Dodgers have overtaken the Giants.
The AL Wild card is clear with the Angels and Mariners in position now, but the Yankees, Jays and Royals are all close. The NL is insane, as all the teams creeping on the division leaders are in it and right now the Giants are in position, but nothing will be settled for a while in the National League.
