Dallas Cowboys Rumors: Tony Romo Needs Dez Bryant and DeMarco Murray Support In 2014 Season As Team Signs Dezmon Briscoe

The Dallas Cowboys are coming into the 2014 season after missing the playoffs in the final week of the schedule once again and this year the NFC East could be up for grabs and that means Tony Romo will need some major support in the offense from Dez Bryant and DeMarco Murray and the roster should have some depth heading into the start of training camp after signing Dezmon Briscoe.

According to ESPN.com, the Cowboys signed Briscoe to fill out the 90-man roster heading into training camp in California and the team is preparing to use a number of wide receivers this offseason as they focus on Romo and the passing game. There are 11 receivers on the roster heading into camp and one of the main issues in Oxnard is the heat and since the team will be using Romo and the passing offense so much, they want to make sure that everyone stays fresh. Bryant should be in rhythm with Romo and if he has a season like he did last year, the Cowboys should be in good position again.

Briscoe comes in after playing with the Bengals, Buccaneers and Redskins in his career, although he has not played in a regular season game since back in 2010. Briscoe had his best season back in 2011 with Tampa Bay when he had 35 catches for 387 yards and six touchdowns and last season he spent time with the Redskins and has 43 career receptions.

Last season the Cowboys ranked 14th in passing yards per game and Romo had another solid year with 3,828 yards passing, but he missed the last game of the season, which the Eagles won to make the playoffs. The Cowboys have scratched the playoffs in each of the last few seasons and this could finally be the year they break through after falling to the Eagles and Giants in the past. The defense was a mess last season, ranking 30th in passing yards allowed per game and 27th in rushing yards per game and Jason Garrett will need to get that improved this season.
