Sacramento Kings Trade Rumors: Rudy Gay, Derrick Williams, Jason Thompson, Carl Landry, Ray McCallum For Josh Smith?

The Sacramento Kings are looking to trade for Josh Smith with the Detroit Pistons and so far no deal has gone down, but the team is looking to make moves and names like Rudy Gay, Derrick Williams, Jason Thompson, Carl Landry or Ray McCallum could be traded this summer or during the season as the Kings try and rebuild around DeMarcus Cousins and Ben McLemore.

According to ESPN.com, Josh Smith is at the center of talks for the Sacramento Kings and while no deal is imminent right now, the two sides could pick up again soon. ESPN writes that Stan Van Gundy has informed Smith that he likely will remain with the team this season, but that could change as things progress. Smith signed a large deal with the Pistons last year under Joe Dumars and now SVG could look to make a move after he took over basketball operations in Detroit.

The Kings have been making numerous moves over the past year and trades with Rudy Gay and Derrick Williams went down last season and now they could look at making moves again. The team likely will not deal Gay after getting him to opt in this season, but that could change later on, while Williams, Landry and Thompson are the main names that could get moved. ESPN.com reports that the Kings have a big of a jam up at the forward position and they are looking to at least get one of those players out of the mix in a deal.

DeMarcus Cousins is not going anywhere and the team is looking to add Smith to the frontcourt as a primary scorer along with Gay. The Pistons reportedly are looking to trade Smith this offseason as they try to sign back Greg Monroe, but right now talks have slowed as they look at making a deal. The Pistons have Andre Drummond already and they want to keep Monroe and that could mean trading Smith. ESPN.com writes that the deal could turn into a three team trade if they find another one willing to jump in.

The Kings have some young talent developing and the team won the Las Vegas summer league tournament and that could lead to some deals if scouts see players on the rise. The team likes Ray McCallum, but he could be an option to move over Ben McLemore after he led the way with 29 points for the team in the matchup against the Rockets. McCallum played in 45 games last season with the Kings and started 10 games down the stretch and he showed his developing skills, as he had one point in the first quarter of the game against the Rockets in Vegas.

Last season the Kings ranked 17th in points per game and ninth in rebounding and they won just 28 games. The team took Nik Stauskas in the draft and he could be a very solid option moving forward and the team is looking to strengthen the defense as well after ranking 24th in points per game allowed last season.
