Wimbledon 2012 Schedule: Andy Murray Advances, Serena Faces Defending Champ Kvitova

In Day 8 of Wimbledon Andy Murray (4) has already advanced to the Quarterfinals. 

Murray, the last British player standing in Singles tournament, defeated the 18th seeded Marin Cilic in three straight sets, 7-5, 6-2, 6-3.

With the victory, Murray joins Novak Djokovic, Florian Meyer, Roger Federer and Mikhail Youzhny in the Quarterfinals.

Later on today, Serena Williams (6) will play against Petra Kvitova as she will attempt to advance into the Semifinals.

This is the first time in Wimbledon that Williams will face a higher seeded opponent. Kvitova comes into the tournament ranked 4th.

Kvitova was last year's Wimbledon champion. The 22-year old has not made it past the Semis in both Grand Slam tournaments she has participated in this year. 

In other matches set to take place today, Sabine Lisicki (15) will play Angelique Kerber (8).

Victoria Azarenaka (2) will face Tamira Paszek (37). Paszek is currently the lowest seeded player in Singles' tournament.

Currently playing are, for the Gentlemen's Singles, Mardy Fish and Joe-Wilfried Tsonga, while the Ladies have Agnieszka Radawanska and Maria Kirilinko facing off.

Either Fish or Tsonga will advance to the Quarterfinals, while the winner between the Ladies will carry on to the Semifinals.
