Houston Rockets Trade Rumors: Kevin Love or Rajon Rondo With Celtics Option After Trevor Ariza?

The Houston Rockets could trade for Kevin Love or Rajon Rondo this offseason after missing on Carmelo Anthony and Chris Bosh, as ESPN reporter Marc Stein writes that Daryl Morey could try to make a splash to give James Harden and Dwight Howard another star after allowing Chandler Parsons to leave for the Mavericks and while deals with the Timberwolves or Boston Celtics are unlikely, they remain an option for the GM.

According to ESPN and Marc Stein, the Rockets may look at pulling off another late summer trade after missing out on Anthony and Bosh, as the team was hoping to make a splash this offseason. Stein writes that Morey has long coveted Rondo and now that the Cavaliers have to wait 30-days to trade Andrew Wiggins, a team like the Rockets could jump in for Love. The Rockets were considered a solid destination earlier in the offseason, but they pursued Melo and Bosh instead and missed out.

The big free agent signing for the team was Trevor Ariza and he should provide some solid scoring and defense and he can make up for the loss of Parsons. The Rockets felt Parsons wasn't worth that amount of money and they let him go to the Mavericks after they signed him to an offer sheet.

According to ESPN.com, the Cavaliers remain in the lead for a Love trade, but now the Bulls have emerged again as a destination after they previously were mentioned at the start of the season. Marc Stein writes that the Bulls stopped pursuing the trade to go after Carmelo Anthony, but now that they have signed Pau Gasol and see that the Cavs are in on the deal, they have come back and jumped into the fold. Stein writes that a deal with Taj Gibson, Jimmy Butler and first rounds picks is possible, while the Cavaliers are offering Andrew Wiggins.

The Cavaliers previously did not want to include Wiggins in the deal for Love, but the Wolves have apparently gotten them to put him in. Stein reports that the Cavaliers are offering Wiggins as well as Anthony Bennett and a future first round pick, but right now that is not enough for the Timberwolves. The Wolves like the three number ones, but they also want to move Kevin Martin and his $21 million deal, meaning the Cavaliers may have to make more moves to get that done.

The Golden State Warriors have also been in the mix and so far they have been unwilling to trade Klay Thompson. The Warriors love the duo of Thompson and Steph Curry, but that is who the Wolves are targeting and so far Golden State has offered David Lee and Harrison Barnes along with a first round pick to get a deal done. The Warriors are worried about losing Thompson and leaving Curry exposed up top and while they love what they see in Love, they feel better about keeping Klay for the long haul.

The Cavaliers became big players after getting back LeBron James and they would be favorites in the east with this deal. Now the team has to battle a division rival in the Bulls to get the deal done, but they remain in front for the trade with the Wolves.
