Wimbledon 2012 Results and Updates: Serena William Advances to Semifinals, Defeats Defending Champion

Serena Williams has advanced to the Semifinals after defeating former champion, Petra Kvitova in their Quarterfinals matchup.

Williams won in two straight sets 6-3, 7-5. It will be the seventh appearance she makes in Wimbledon Semifinal.

It has been a great summer for her compared to last year when she could not defend her title and was eliminated in the fourth round.

Williams will now sit and wait for her opponent. It will either be Tamira Paszek (37) or Victoria Azarenka (2).

The Men's Quarterfinals bracket was finally filled in today.

Florian Mayer came into Wimbledon ranked 29th and upset 19th ranked Richard Gasquet in four sets by the scores of 6-3, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2.

Jo-Wilfriend Tsonga (5) put away Mardy Fish in the completion of Monday's rained out match.

Tsonga had lost the first set on Monday, but he rallied back early Tuesday morning to win in three straight sets. The final line read 4-6, 7-6, 6-4, 6-4 in favor of Tsonga.

David Ferrer (7) defeated ninth ranked, Juan Martin del Potro in three sets 6-3, 6-2, 6-3.

Philipp Kohlschreiber (30) beat American Brian Baker in three sets 6-1, 7-6, 6-3.
