Manchester City had a bit of a scare this offseason when reports said that star Yaya Toure was unhappy with the team and wanted to leave, but now the star has confirmed that he wants to remain with the Citizens and this comes ahead of the team playing in the International Champions Cup against Liverpool on Wednesday at Yankee Stadium and this comes as Edin Dzeko is talking a new contract with the team.
According to Pro Soccer Talk, Toure said that he is happy where he is and that Manuel Pellegrini is a great manager and has been doing a great job. Last season Toure was excellent while scoring 20 goals and he joined an attack with Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany that won the Premier League title. The team was the highest scoring in the EPL and now it looks like he is happy, putting behind any issues related to the "birthday incident" reports from earlier in the summer.
The 31 year old looks to stay and now Man City is looking for their second straight title in the EPL.
"I am very happy to join the team and the manager," Toure said. "He [Pellegrini] is a fantastic manager and everyone is very happy and positive because last season was a good season. This year, I hope it is going to be amazing with all the other teams signing very good players. For me, it was not a case of leaving the club. It was difficult because my situation was quite difficult. I was always quiet and my decision is that I will stay at Manchester City for as long as possible."
