The NASCAR Sprint Cup 2014 standings has Dale Earnhardt Jr. moving up after his win at Pocono Raceway on Sunday and heading into the Chase schedule has Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Brad Keselowski, Matt Kenseth and Jimmie Johnson leading in the top 5 with points and this weekend the schedule has the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Pocono Raceway and that will be on ESPN on Saturday at 1 pm ET before Watkins Glen and that leads into the final stretch.
Jeff Gordon comes in after winning for the fifth time at the Brickyard in Indianapolis and it came 20 years after he first won at the course and he has been near the top of the standings all season. Gordon was good all day and he took the checkered flag and he finished ahead of Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Matt Kenseth and Joey Logano and now Gordon has the most wins at Indianapolis Motor Speedway of anyone, moving one ahead of Jimmie Johnson at the track.
Gordon has been in the lead all but one of the weeks this season and he is right in the thick of it with the lead in points and he has two wins on the season and has been in the top five seven times and the top 10 14 times this season. Gordon has been very impressive and he leads Dale by a bit and he Junior has been driving well all season too, winning two races and going in the top five nine times and in the top 10 also 14 times. Keselowski is pushing up and he is in third place and he is looking to keep that going this week.
The Chase has six more races left to go including Pocono and after that race it will be the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Watkins Glen and then the series heads to Michigan International Speedway. August 23 has the Sprint Cup Series at Bristol from Bristol Motor Speedway and then things shift to Atlanta before the final race at Richmond International Raceway in September.
