PGA Championship 2014 Golf Schedule: Tiger Woods May Miss Tournament At Valhalla Starting Thursday

The PGA Championship 2104 major starts at Valhalla on Thursday and the schedule may not have Tiger Woods and that is bad news for the TV ratings and the start date for the tournament is August 7 and it lasts through August 10 and Rory McIlroy comes in after winning again and that was at the Bridgestone Invitational and he is now number one in the world and Woods could miss out with another injury for the major.

McIlroy is now back to number one in the world after winning the Bridgestone and he had another great performance, coming back and taking over Sergio Garcia to win. The week before he had his wire to wire win at the British Open and now he has the chance to add another major title to his mantle and it could come without Woods in the lineup. Woods' status is up in the air after he had to withdraw from the Bridgestone in the final round, but no decision has been made yet on what he will do.

Woods has not yet made a decision about playing at the PGA and this could be massive, as he has already missed two majors this year. Woods is coming back off of back surgery and he has not played well and he ended up having to withdraw this past weekend after taking an awkward shot and falling into a bunker. Woods has had a tough year and it follows a great one when he had five wins on tour and the number one ranking again, but now all that is gone.

Woods won three times ahead of the Masters last season and his last win was at the Bridgestone, but he could not defend the title and now McIlroy has it. McIlroy is now looking to take the mantle from Woods and if he wins here at the PGA that would make it realistic. Many think McIlroy is the favorite after the way he has played and Woods comes in having won the major at Valhalla before in the past and now he is getting evaluated before making a decision on the tournament.

Woods has won 14 majors and he has been stuck there for years and now McIlroy is starting to overshadow him and that could happen again. Woods started off well at the WGC, but he eventually faded and then had to withdraw. McIlroy had a fine performance through the weekend and then he was able to get over on Garcia and took the win. The tournament starts on Thursday and tee times will be released for the first two rounds this week ahead of the major.
