The 2012 Macy's Fireworks show will kick off at 9p.m. tonight. For those residing in New Jersey, head over to the Weehawken, Northern Hoboken, Northern Bergen and Jersey City Heights to catch the best view of the spectacular Hudson River display.
Expect bottleneck traffic jams as tens of thousands flock to the waterfront. Public transportation is strongly advised by The City of Hoboken. Visitors may get to the waterfront visa PATH, Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, NY Waterway ferries, or NJ Transit commuter rail/bus.
The best location to watch the show is Maxwell Park, located along 11th Street to 14th Street on the waterfront. Thousands of people are also expected to head towards Sinatra Drive, which runs from 1st Street to 15th Street. All traffic will be closed and only pedestrians will be able to enter these areas.
Over 40,000 fireworks launched from four barges will be displayed along the Hudson River synchronized to a 25-minute soundtrack with songs by Madonna, Ray Charles, Lee Greenwood, Neil Diamond, Taylor Swift and Whitney Houston, among others.
America's fireworks show will be broadcast on NBC for those unable to make it to NYC or New Jersey.
This year's fireworks show is called "Ignite the Night," and will feature performances by Katy Perry and Kenney Chesney on TV.
