There have been rumors flying around that the Texas Rangers have considered trading left-handed pitcher, Derek Holland.
They could use Holland as bait for a veteran pitcher like Zack Greinke or Cole Hamels.
Hamels is a World Series MVP and the Rangers could use a figure like that in their ball club.
Greinke, though a bit unorthodox, has been pitching well, and despite not having a World Series ring, his pitching skills speak for themselves.
He is 9-2 witha 3.08 earned runs average in 2012.
Hamels is also having a solid season. He is 10-4 with a 3.20 ERA.
The only part, well, the most important part of this trade that will immediately nuke it in my eyes is Holland's contract. He is signed until 2017 and if the Milwaukee Brewers or Philadelphia Phillies are looking to get themselves in a contract for that long, they might as well spend the money on their own players.
Holland is a young pitcher and is expected to break through, but he has yet to prove he is a consistent ace.
During the playoffs, he came out of the bullpen for manager Ron Washington. He started one game in the World Series and absolutely shined.
Hollan pitched 8.1 innings of scoreless ball against the St. Louis Cardinals. After this brilliant outing the world met Holland's quarky side.
So far this season, Holland has a 5.10 ERA and has a 5-4 record.
Highly doubt that this trade will actually materialize.
