Wimbledon 2012 Results of Final: Roger Federer is the Champion

Roger Federer is the 2012 Wimbledon Champion.

Federer defeated No. 4 ranked Andy Murray in four sets, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4 to claim his record 7th Wimbledon Championship in the Men's Singles.

He dominated the match despite committing an abundance of unforced errors. In the first two sets it looked like this would cost him the match.

Federer's forehand caused him to commit a lot of the 38 unforced errors in the match.

Despite these struggles, he looked like the younger player out on the court. Federer moved briskly through the court and did a great job playing up against the net.

His great net play forced Murray to overplay or over hit balls when Federer approached.

For Murray and Great Britain, it is another year without a championship.

Murray could have made history with a win as no British player has won Wimbledon since 1936.

Murray played well in the first portions of the match, but Federer looked way too athletic and smooth out on the court.

The first two sets were pretty close.

After a rain delay, officials decided to close the roof.

After this break, Federer seemed to regain energy, while Murray lost momentum. Federer took a lead immediately after the delay and never looked back.

He tied Pete Sampras for the most Wimbledon titles and now has 17 Grand Slam titles.

Federer is also now the No. 1 ranked player in the world.
