The NY Giants and Detroit Lions are playing live on the NFL schedule on Monday night football for the first MNF game of the season from Ford Field and the game starts up at 7:10 pm ET and comes live on ESPN and the WatchESPN website as Eli Manning takes on Megatron and Matthew Stafford to start off 2014 and it comes after a major news day in the league with Ray Rice.
The Giants are coming into the season after being 5-0 in the preseason, but everyone has talked about how bad their new offense has looked. The team now can test it out and they will be playing against a team with one of the best offensive units in the league and that could potentially turn this into a shootout. The Giants made a number of signings this offseason and that includes Rashad Jennings, who could be the top offensive player for the team after taking over in the backfield.
The Giants had a disappointing season at 7-9 last year and now they have the chance to bounce back and getting off to a good start here would be a nice way to do it. Eli Manning has Victor Cruz coming back and while Odell Beckham will be out of action, the team is hoping he can return soon. The team starts on the road against the Lions and then plays two games against the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Rockets before playing on the road against the Washington Redskins.
The team has all of their away games against the division in Dallas, DC and Philly in the first half and then the Giants have the rest at home in the second part of the season. The team has those road games along with a home game against the Atlanta Falcons and that is a tough stretch and comes ahead of a bye week, which has a Monday night game against the Colts.
